From the Desk of Annie Presley AP
At my annual "Kappa lunch", I was intrigued to find the big hit of the day wasn't the fabulous meal, the scenic location, or even the chance to catch up with old friends and make new connections.  It was the introduction to one of my favorite not-for-profits.

Every guest was asked to bring children's books to donate to St. Mark Child and Family Development Center, a local non-profit dedicated to the enrichment and development of children in the urban core.  With that one simple invitation to give, every guest was engaged in something more than a networking luncheon, they were using a little creativity to give of themselves.

Countless opportunities exist to partner with local charities.  Before your next meeting, conference, luncheon, or event, take some time to think about the non-profits around you that are doing quality work you and your guests care about.  Usually, one phone call to the organization can spark some ideas for simple ways to help...canned good drives are just the beginning!

Shawsie, Anne and AdeleFeatured Service: Non-Profit Partnerships
When your employees, guests and friends are given the occasion and encouragement to give back to organizations in your community, everyone benefits: non-profits receive much-needed resources for their work, the community receives improved services, and your peers come away from your event with a far more positive experience than before!

If you'd like to brainstorm about how to choose the perfect partner for your next project, give me a call. We'd love to hear from you!

FaceSpace: Reneé and Tyrone Flowers
Founder and Administrative Director of Higher M-Pact

Tyrone and Renee Flowers
Since 1993, Higher M-Pact has been transforming high-risk youth into tomorrow's leaders.

From their life experiences, volunteer service, and their study of the juvenile justice systems, founder Tyrone Flowers and his wife Reneé found a tremendous void in the availability and quality of programs and services for high-risk youth.  Through programs ranging from mentoring and after-school programs to community service to societal education, Higher M-Pact is working to change the course of today's high-risk urban youth and inspire others within the high-risk community.

Higher M-Pact deals with the high-risk youth no one else wants to deal with.  These youth are involved in the Juvenile Justice System and delinquent activities, and society views them as a lost cause.  Although these youth are difficult and challenging, they possess many of the characteristics that also make great leaders: strong-willed, influential, and charismatic.  They are facing the toughest challenges imaginable but have qualities that can be nurtured into positive leadership.
